Gunman 04:55
“Gunman” Written by Molly Hanmer and Claudia Miles © 2015 Gunman's on the run he's got a plan, he's having fun, he's coming for you Gunman's on the run There is no saving grace What is mercy? Even kids aren't safe There is no saving grace And it's one, two, three, twelve for you and one for me He's just like you and me a broken home, bad T.V., a restless cog He's just like you and me No pistol by his side it's automatic, the thirst for suicide No pistol by his side And it's one, two, three, twelve for you and one for me Shots ring and now he's dead his legacy an ode to our madness Shots ring and now he's dead The battle's just begun the blaming game, the shooter won, there's no progress The battle's just begun And it's one, two, three, twelve for you and one for me

“Bet You Think You’re Cool” Written by Molly Hanmer & Claudia Miles ©2020 I bet you think you’re hip like that I bet you still worship Kerouac And just like him, I tend to think you’re overrated I’m sure you write a great folk song I bet you love a-runnin’ on and on Like you’re some kind of Van Zandt Second Coming I bet you think you’re cool x4 I bet you think you run this town Love that all your lackeys hang around The King of Clubs, Always holding back your aces I bet you like to walk real tall Wearing your plaid and overalls When in fact, You’ve never seen a horse or stable I bet you think you’re cool x4 But I can see right through Every pick and strum you play And all of your self-doubt Bleeds right through the words you say I bet you think you’re some outlaw Donning a ten gallon faux pas How unique, You even ride a motorcycle I bet you like to act real shy Leaving your women high and dry Skipping town, Without a sound in the night I bet you think you’re cool x4

Sick of Me 02:22
“Sick of Me” ©2020 Written by Molly Hanmer & Claudia Miles Walking past the mirror When I catch my own reflection I swear it’s laughing, and mocking my every imperfection And I can’t stand the sound of no one else around ‘Cause I’m so sick of me, myself, and I Evermore distracted yeah my mind is all over the place I stubbed my toe on the same old filth I have the last three days Someone let me out Before I scream and shout ‘Cause I’m so sick of me I’m so sick of me, myself, and I Well I haven’t much money And I sure could use someone else I tried to call some guy but I ended up loving myself Give me something new Give me some of you ‘Cause I’m so sick of me I’m so sick of me I’m so sick of me, myself, and I

Get Loose 04:08
“Get Loose” Written by Molly Hanmer and Claudia Miles © 2020 Always so straight Always so right Take a deep breath And let me open up your mind Come lose your way In a wood with no name Over the hearth and over the flame Baby, get loose Let down your hair Come on and get loose Make a racket if you dare I wanna self destruct I wanna lose control I want to let you down And waste my time in rabbit holes Come lose your way In a wood with no name Over the hearth and over the flame Baby, get loose Let down your hair Come on and get loose Start a riot if you dare Take it real slow ‘Cause we’re gonna get high Quiet the din And take illusion for a ride Come lose your way In a wood with no name Over the hearth and over the flame Baby, get loose Let down your hair Come on and get loose Make a racket if you dare

“Hard Day’s Work” Written by Molly Hanmer and Claudia Miles © 2020 Well I clock in come the morning Just to go to work at night I see my kids 6 hours a week But it keeps them fed alright No I ain’t ever known nothing No I ain’t ever known nothing No I ain’t ever known nothing but a hard day’s work I do it for my mother 2000 miles away I ain’t seen her face in 20 years But at least we’re getting paid No I ain’t ever known nothing No I ain’t ever known nothing No I ain’t ever known nothing but a hard day’s work I cook and clean your dishes I reap your fertile fields I break my back and skin my knees And take my honest yield I live within the shadow Of the white man’s dollar bill I do the jobs they’ll never want But always claim I steal No I ain’t ever known nothing No I ain’t ever known nothing No I ain’t ever known nothing but a hard day’s work

“Blah Blah Blah” Lyrics Written by Molly Hanmer and Claudia Miles © 2020 Have you heard the latest, the disaster of the week A steady drip of heroin administered on screen Have you seen the latest trend, tweeted out your own op-ed yet? Everybody’s talking when they’ve got nothing to say Blah blah, all of the time I can’t get no relief because I’m always online and I can feel myself sink beneath what everyone thinks Blah blah blah Offer yourself freely and they’ll get you what you need A dopamine injection for a little history Heya kid, take this gun Take these scissors run, kid run yeah Everybody’s talking when they’ve got nothing to say Blah blah, all of the time I can’t get no relief because I’m always online and I can feel myself sink beneath what everyone thinks Blah blah blah A million faceless voices screaming pounding on my brain If I don’t get a shred of silence I just might go insane Blah blah, all of the time I can’t get no relief because I’m always online and I can feel myself sink beneath what everyone thinks Blah blah blah Blah blah blah

Rise 03:53
“Rise” Written by Molly Hanmer and Claudia Miles © 2019 Did you wake up today to another barrage of news made to ruin your day? Did you roll on your side, pull the quilt over your eyes because it’s just too much to take? Well I’m with you brother, some days it’s hard to rise in these darkest of times Well tell me truly, dad, has it ever been this bad, have you ever seen trouble run this deep? When the children I might bear never get a chance that’s fair on a planet that we couldn’t keep I’m with you daughter, some days it’s hard to rise in these darkest of times So get up sleepy head there’s no solace in your bed, there’s still time and the day is new Where there’s love there is light and your willingness to fight, and it’s the only thing you can do I’m with you sister, today we’re gonna rise in these darkest of times I’m with you brother, today we’re gonna rise in these darkest of times

about

Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers Get Loose with their second album.

Molly Hanmer likes to joke that her band is genre fluid, because while it fits neatly in the garage rock or pop punk category, it also draws from cow punk, blues, roots rock, psychedelia, R&B, and even gospel. The band is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Molly Hanmer, who, along with her collaborator, music manager Claudia Miles, writes all the band’s original songs. In addition to writing, Molly is the band's lead vocalist, lead and rhythm guitarist and harmonica player.

The band consists of Molly Hanmer, Keith Palmer (drums, back-up vocals), Alan Hampton (guest bass player), Claudia Miles (back-up vocals), John Bird (keyboards), Mickey Madden (lead guitar) with special guests Joe Sublett (alto and tenor saxophones), and Mark Pender (trumpet).

The band released their first album, Stuck in a Daydream, in 2018, and are excited to be announcing their second album, Get Loose, which will be out Sept 28. The first single from the album, “Sick of Me,” will be released July 20.

The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Sheldon Gomberg, a two-time Grammy winner who is known for producing Ben Harper, Lucinda Williams, Los Lobos, Jackson Browne, and many more, as well as albums by various artists for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
